About the Founder

Sky Grid was started by Jared Larsen in Hyrum, Utah — built right in his parents’ garage and out on their lawn, cutting and drilling pipe in the Utah summer sun. What began as a hands-on project has grown into a business focused on one simple mission: bringing people together through fun, active play.

★ Made in the USA

"I first played 9-square as a junior in high school back in 2017 and immediately fell in love with it. The quick rounds, the addictive push to reach the center square, and the way it naturally includes people of all skill levels made it unlike any other game. More than anything, I saw how it brought people together — friends, families, and entire groups all playing at once.

That experience stuck with me, and I set out to build what I believed was the optimal 9-square set — something durable, portable, and actually enjoyable to play on.

Along the way, I noticed the common problems. Homemade PVC sets were often too tall or too short, with poles that slid out during play. Name-brand options were heavy, bulky, and difficult to set up or take down, with plastic that could become brittle over time. Other designs using velcro straps felt inconsistent — the straps would fade in the sun, wear out, and even shift in the wind, affecting gameplay.

So I built something better.

Every Sky Grid set is hand-built by me or a member of my team, with a focus on quality and performance. The design combines a sturdy PVC structure for the best gameplay experience with a lightweight, portable build that fits into a single carrying bag. Our sets are also the only 9-square systems with detachable footings for easy drainage after use in lakes or pools, along with an internal bungee tightening system that keeps everything secure and consistent.

I take pride in every set we build because I know what it represents — more than just a game, it’s a way to bring people of all generations together for something simple, active, and genuinely fun.

I look forward to building your set and helping your family create memories for years to come."

Why we make it ourselves.

Most outdoor games are made overseas, packed in a box, and shipped 8,000 miles before you ever touch them. We do the opposite. Every SkyGrid set is hand-assembled in our shop using American-made PVC pipe and American-made connectors.

That means stronger joints, better tolerances, and a product that survives the kind of use big families and youth groups actually put it through. It also means when something breaks (rare!) we can ship you a part the next day, from a person, not a chatbot.
